Daily Painting, Elementary Readers

Greetings,

Welcome to daily painting at the Cooper studio.  Today was again spent on the 'elementary readers' painting.  Most of it at least.  My HP camera and I did have to make a couple of excursions out into the wildwoods, er, the parks of Spencer.

This came about because of several different occurrences.  The first, last night the resident seventeen year old told me 'elementary readers' has too much grass involved.  He does have a good eye for graphics, and has helped me solve a few problems in the past, so I considered it.  Therefore, the second.  I selected as my 11:00pm-read-in-bed-book "Techniques Of The Impressionists".  I reaffirmed my memory that both Renoir and Morisot could handle lots of grass with ease.  So what was my excuse?  (lack of fame? )    So back to the studio.  Armed with determination, most of the daily paint was slung at the school yard in all the grassy places, and I do believe with some success.  The problem is with those kind of stabbing light places in the shady area.  That brings us to three, and the camera trips.  How does it look when the tree lets through just a couple of light splotches?  The HP camera says those light splotches look kind of stab-like.  Unfortunately this leads me to the conclusion that the "smooth it out, clean it up a bit" part of my brain wants to have control of the brush for about half an hour.  Time to lean this canvas on the studio wall for a day or two!

Did I tell you here that I have an opening tomorrow?  Yup, Pearson Lakes Art Center.  Two friends and I have an exhibit we are calling "Go Figure".  I'm sure that link will work a lot quicker than plugging in all that info again!

Later, Cooper
