Lights And Darks
by Cooper on 6/16/2009 7:08:04 PM

Greetings,

Welcome to the Cooper studio.

Six hours of studio time today, and 5 1/2 of them landed on the cafe scene canvas.  So, darks and lights, why does it always take more darks than you think?  I was even thinking I was getting close UNTIL I did the blackandwhite thing with my photo program.  Oh dear.  It's definitely back to the drawing board, err, I mean, easel, tomorrow.

Oh, and the other half hour?  I started a new little 12 x 12 inch canvas.  Some people from Iowa City, Iowa are getting painted :)  It will be a fun one, I promise!

Later, Cooper

Creating art can be frustrating and sometimes demoralizing - sometimes very rewarding! I may be late to this idea, but I have decided that anything I paint also has to be fun, exciting, and attractive ... to ME. After all, there is no guaranty AT ALL that anyone else is going to find it to be wonderful. The artist, at the very least, should enjoy it! So, if you enjoyed the painting while you were doing it (even if you subsequently decide you need/want to change something)it is a success at least to that degree. I keep reminding myself of this.
